Television: Hydroplane Thrills #2

Unlimited Hydroplane racing became an annual event in Trent Ling’s hometown of Pasco, Washington, beginning when Trent was but one year old.  Trent has long been convinced that his passionate love and appreciation of the sport came about in order to inspire and prepare him for the treacherous battles he would one day face and overcome in the Faith. Accordingly, this site will occasionally share portions of Trent’s ESPN broadcasts including his running montage of Unlimited thrills through the years.  Playing to win is Heaven’s call.  And sometimes it takes us over the edge!

Sometimes, we consider ourselves fine one moment only to find ourselves upside down and wounded the next.  Other times, seemingly a mere blink of an eye passes within which our world completely disintegrates.  And, of course, what may be fun, invigorating, and hard-chargingly right suddenly whipsaws into an unmitigated disaster.

“Disciples of Jesus go for it,” Trent insists. “We marvel at those in various pursuits who have gone for it at great cost.  They inspire and exemplify the heart of a warrior and the determination of a champion.  My undying admiration to them all.”

For a visual fitting each of these cases, enjoy the television clip below:

  1. It’s amazing when you’re rolling along (thinking – like all is ok) and to be righteously shaken up (-side down) by God. It is extremely uncomfortable, in fact the worst, yet really helps get your feet planted on the ground! Something these drivers (I’m sure pondered) when up-side down in the water. You really have to stay in communication with your crew chief through it all. Thanks Crew Chief! (Father)

  2. I also see great perseverance. From what I understood, Chip had had a close call before this one. This a great example of emerging from disasters and bumps in the road and trying again.

  3. That was very thrilling! What a great example of giving it all you got at a great cost! How did anyone make it alive from those kind of accidents? I think Chip has nine lives 🙂
